Our Quebec scouting crew is literally in a frenzy of excitement this year over the upside of Joseph Veleno (F - 2000 - Lions Du LSL) and we would not lie to you - it's highly contagious to see so many people find themselves on the same page and tout a young 2000 DOB prospect as the best thing since sliced bread (exact words) to happen on the QMJHL draft frontline over the last five years! In our opinion, Valeno may one day surpass Jonathan Drouin's accomplishments on the NHL draft front! YES, he is THAT good! Click here to read the article...

Awesome!

Let us tell you one thing, when the curtain falls on the first 30 calls of the 2015 WHL bantam draft, we would not be in the least shocked to see Calen Addison, Brendan Benoit, Ben Coppinger, Caiden Daley and Jett Woo being off the selection board! In fact, we think most of the listed prospects could and would challenge for a first round pick, especially if they perform up to their full capabilities next season!

Rising Bluechipper!

We' know from bitter personal experience that even a good player can become an offensive afterthought on a loaded team like Belle Tire Bantam Major AAA. However, Cade Robinson defied this trend on all possible scores last season. In fact, we would say the 1999 DOB finesse forward actually eclipsed a lot of supremely hyped, optimistically projected and higher ranked T1EBHL blue-chippers with his special brand of stand-out offensive ice prominence!

College Bound!

The 2014 recruiting process was a memorable one for Matt Filipe (1997- Malden Catholic - 6'2" - 190) and the scouting parties surrounding him! Our Massachusetts hockey sources were chattering like magpies about the many great options Matt had, the awesome season he posted, and the absolutely dynamite prospect he would become in D1 ranks one day! The excitement was contagious and all-pervading, so we've caught up with Matt recently for a brief update on what's what with his career decisions and future …

Must Watch Newcomer

Now, here is a case of a prospect capable of looking into the eye of the storm and not flinching - Jenson (2000 - River Lakes High School Varsity - 5'9" - 150 pounds)! When Nikolai moved from a first year Pee Wee to play all but the first two games of HS varsity hockey in Minnesota many thought it was pure suicide for a 7th grader to take on bigger, tougher and vastly more experienced seniors. Jenson persevered in spite of everything and, boy, do we have mad respect for his commitment to the cause!

D1 Prospect

There are many prospects out there that possess good college potential, but will never actually realize it fully due to poor decision making. Needham (1999 - Neponset Valley River Rats - Arlington Catholic - 5'8" - 165 pounds), though, is absolutely on the right track! We are very excited about Craig's progress this year, and think his ability to crack the line up of the Lawrence Academy Spartans (great college preparatory school) for the 2014-2015 season could work wonders in the longer term career perspective!

BWC!

The years of scouting have taught us to never discount a prospect who has gone through the purely refining hockey development program like BWC, and we'd surely be keeping close tabs on Sam Atkins, Callum Volpe, Clint Colebourn, Mateo Coltellaro, and Spencer Hunter, who all appear to be much better stylistically after their 2013-2014 trial by fire!

Considering All Options

It was common knowledge before the draft Prestia (1998 - 98 Southern Tier Admirals - 6'1" - 203 pounds) would get picked within the first two rounds! However, the NCAA factor came into play on D-day knocking Nicholas down into the lower than expected 69th overall selection. That irrespective, everyone knows Nicholas will play at the next level and excel, however, the 1 million dollar question remained unanswered until today - will Prestia respond to the Belleville Bulls' beckoning call and join the OHL fray or are his allegiances firmly with the NCAA?

Stallions!

No matter how many times we peruse our Saskatchewan Bantam AA Hockey League watch-list files for the 2014 springs-summer, a couple of prospects slip through the cracks and get omitted. But, don't worry, we have the waterfront covered fairly well for the Saskatoon Stallions with obvious high-priority slot-ins already taken by Jake Leschyshyn, Braden Krzak, Brock Ochitwa, Ashton Heidt, and Cole Beckman!

Must watch D1 prospect

There is always a demand in hockey for stay-at-home d-men that keep their game on the simple, better-safe-than-sorry side and, in our opinion, Masellis (1997 - Surrey Eagles - BCHL - 6'3" - 225 - D) is an epitome of this stylistically perfect defensive type! In case you haven't guessed it yet, we are pretty high on Domenic, because he made the challenging jump from major midget to the BCHL nicely, immediately got placed on the defensive frontline, and eventually logged 53 regular season games – something not many rookies are capable of doing without crumbling to bits mentally!
